All four-cylinder. All slower. All asking more. One of them is a manual, and the most expensive of the four is an import. This car has 88 hp more than the best of them, is the only V6 of the group, and is the cheapest of the five. Standvirtual's own valuation panel puts similar vehicles at 18.000 to 22.000 EUR.

Buying privately means the price is lower and the whole invoice history is open to you before you pay anything, rather than after.

WHY PETROL AND NOT DIESEL

Almost every E-Class Cabriolet in Portugal is a diesel, so petrol looks like the odd choice. It is the right one for this car. A post-2009 diesel carries a particulate filter that only regenerates on long hot runs. A weekend convertible driven 8.000 km a year is the worst possible diet for a DPF, and replacing one runs into four figures. This car starts cold, does short trips, sits for a week, and none of that costs it anything.

3.5 litre V6 petrol, 292 hp, 365 Nm, 0 to 100 km/h in 6,5 seconds. Seven-speed 7G-TRONIC automatic. Rear wheel drive. Registered in Portugal from new, first registration 18-06-2010, never imported.

THE ROOF, AND WHY I FILMED IT

This is the part anyone buying a fifteen-year-old convertible worries about, so there is a video of it in the folder above, uncut and in real time. The fabric roof opens and closes by itself in 20 seconds and works at up to 40 km/h while moving, so you can start it at a red light and be driving before it finishes. The roof control unit was renewed in June 2026 and the roof was checked watertight. The invoice is in the folder.

WHAT IT IS LIKE TO DRIVE

On the motorway 292 hp and 365 Nm means you are never working the engine, just leaning on it, and it stays quiet and settled at a cruise. It is a car built for covering distance. With the roof down a 3.5 V6 at full throttle is the reason to own a convertible rather than a saloon, and the cars competing with this one are four-cylinder diesels. You will hear the difference before you reach the end of the road.

Roof down in winter is the part people do not expect. AIRSCARF blows warm air at your neck from the headrests and AIRCAP kills the draught over the windscreen, so the roof comes down far more of the year than it would in most convertibles. That is the entire point of buying an open car and most of them only deliver it for three months.

CONDITION

Black over beige, the classic combination for this car. Both doors were repainted in 2026 and a new wing mirror fitted, so the paint presents properly rather than being tidy from ten feet. Diagnostics run in April 2026 came back clear with no warning lights, and the periodic inspection was passed. The roof fabric is sound and the roof was checked watertight in June 2026.
